Being Or Looking Cis Is Not The Goal Art Print
Not every trans person wants to be or look cis, some want to look trans, some don’t care how others perceive them, some just want to look like themselves.
In fact, I’m willing to bet that a huge amount of trans people don’t want to look or be cis - they’re comfortable with, and proud of being trans and wouldn’t change that if they could. For a lot of us the lessons we’ve learned and the journey we’ve taken is a huge part of what’s shaped our experiences and identities, it’s how we Became - why would we give all that up? I understand and love my body in a way I wouldn’t if I were cis, and as much as dysphoria or a world built against me might make it difficult to accept myself on some days, on others I’m incredibly proud and happy to be trans. Some days I don’t even really think about it.
Hating your transness or attempting to wish yourself cis doesn’t ease the dysphoria, it makes it worse. There’s nothing wrong with needing hormones or surgery, and I can’t lie - dysphoria hurts an incredible amount, but you can’t hate yourself cis.
Being trans is beautiful and special and a wonderful thing to be - you deserve to love yourself for it.
